Palisade Chamber Launches R.O.O.T.E.D. Initiative to Support Rural Businesses
The Palisade Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the launch of R.O.O.T.E.D. – the Rural Outreach Opportunity for Thriving Economic Development – a new membership initiative designed specifically to support businesses in De Beque and the Plateau Valley while strengthening regional collaboration throughout Western Colorado.
For generations, rural communities have served as the backbone of our region. From agriculture and ranching to small businesses, tourism, outdoor recreation, and local entrepreneurship, these communities contribute significantly to the economic vitality and character of Mesa County. Yet despite their importance, many rural businesses face unique challenges when it comes to visibility, marketing, networking opportunities, advocacy, and access to professional resources.
Recognizing both the challenges and opportunities facing rural communities, the Palisade Chamber developed R.O.O.T.E.D. to create stronger connections between businesses, community leaders, and economic development partners throughout the region. The initiative reflects a simple but powerful belief: when rural communities work together, everyone benefits.
The idea for R.O.O.T.E.D. grew out of conversations with business owners, community stakeholders, and regional leaders who expressed a desire for greater collaboration and support. While each community has its own unique identity and strengths, many businesses face similar obstacles and share common goals. By creating opportunities to connect, learn, and advocate together, the Chamber hopes to help rural businesses thrive while preserving the character that makes each community special.
Through the R.O.O.T.E.D. program, participating businesses will gain access to a variety of Chamber benefits and resources designed to help them grow and succeed. Members will have opportunities to expand their visibility through marketing and promotional efforts, participate in educational programs and workshops, engage in networking events, stay informed on issues affecting local businesses, and connect with other entrepreneurs and professionals throughout the region.
In addition to providing direct benefits for participating businesses, the initiative seeks to strengthen regional collaboration. Communities such as Palisade, De Beque, Collbran, Mesa, and the broader Plateau Valley each offer unique experiences, attractions, businesses, and industries that contribute to the region’s overall appeal. By working together, these communities can better promote the region as a whole, attract visitors, encourage investment, and create new opportunities for economic growth.
Tourism and economic development do not stop at municipal boundaries. Visitors exploring Western Colorado often travel between communities, supporting restaurants, retailers, lodging properties, recreation providers, farms, ranches, wineries, and local attractions along the way. Stronger partnerships between communities help ensure those economic benefits are shared throughout the region while creating a more connected experience for residents and visitors alike.
At its core, R.O.O.T.E.D. is about creating opportunities while honoring local identity. The goal is not to change what makes rural communities unique, but rather to provide additional tools, resources, and connections that help businesses succeed. Whether it’s a family-owned business in De Beque, a ranch operation in Plateau Valley, a local retailer, a tourism-based business, or an entrepreneur just getting started, every business deserves access to resources that support long-term success.
The Palisade Chamber believes that strong communities are built through relationships, collaboration, and shared investment in the future. By bringing businesses together across community lines, R.O.O.T.E.D. aims to create a stronger, more resilient regional economy that benefits everyone.
Together, we can strengthen the roots of our rural communities while creating new opportunities for growth, innovation, and success for generations to come.
