Gingerbread Contest & Showcase

2018 Gingerbread Contest & Showcase AND Cookie Decorating presented by Hilltop Sr Community Services and Community Hospital

Can you feel it?  Can you smell that delicious gingerbread aroma?  Palisade’s Olde Fashioned Christmas Magic has begun. Gingerbread Builders, from beginners to the experienced, of ALL ages, boys, girls, men, and women, have been planning, designing and building all things gingerbread, as they prepare to enter Palisade’s Olde Fashioned Christmas Gingerbread Contest and Showcase, presented by Hilltop and Community Hospital, Saturday, December 1st.  Early check in for entries will be November 30th in the Community Building at Palisade’s Veterans Memorial Park, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Check in picks up on Saturday morning, December 1st from 7:30 am to 9:30 am. We then close for judging until 11:00 am. when the doors open for all to see and enjoy.  Winners will be announced at 1:00 pm.  This charming and whimsical event has become a valley Christmas tradition for so many; it seems to grow every year, as many discover the joy of participating in the contest and seeing the joy on the faces of all who visit our Gingerbread Wonderland.

Remember, we have seven categories, lots of awards, prizes, ribbons and gift bags for all children who enter.  Notice the creative freedom we’ve added to many of the categories. Our Original Creation Category is the one based on all things edible, except for the base, and supports needed and this year we have 2 winners with a category for past winners.  All other categories allow for kits to be used, if desired.  We even have a gingerbread display table open to anyone who would prefer to join in the spirit but not the contest.  This year we’ll have a gingerbread nativity scene from the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Palisade, (they will have nativity displays from around the world at their church from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Wait! There’s more!  Community Hospital’s culinary staff, is baking 400 huge and oh, so adorable, gingerbread house cookies, for all children who visit, to decorate and take with them as part of their Christmas joy.  Cookie decorating is downstairs in the Community Building with the contest and showcase upstairs.   Santa’s workshop with ornaments for children will be there as well.   Another new feature has been added.

Community Hospital has graciously offered to display many of the entries after the event in the beautiful walk way at the hospital, for about two weeks.

Join in the fun and the warmth of the season that will take you away from the hustle and bustle of the holidays and back to a real Olde Fashioned Christmas filled with gingerbread wonderment
